C4I
Command and control (C2) requires precision decision-making skills and direction by commanding personnel over all the relegated forces within a mission, buffered by reliable, repeatable information technology.
In order to achieve information superiority, the United States Commands rely on streamlined C4I processes to achieving better and faster decisions and implementation of commands to bring about those desired goals within a mission.
The collection, processing, integration, analysis, evaluation, and
interpretation of available information is critical to the mission.
STI leverages technology developed for the operational and technical demands of commerce and industry, satisfying the need for cost effective evolution away from legacy systems and reusability. We will implement technology with the goals of:
- Flexibility: The system architecture encompasses all defined operational features
- Scalability: The same software is able to run very small systems as well as very large systems without modification.
- Reliability: The software is able to accept from none to very elaborate redundancy measures in the hardware configuration.
- Modifiability: The system supports a test strategy wherein additional features and functionality can be tested without testing the entire system.
- Portability: All functions are independent of hardware and operating system. COTS features are encapsulated and can be upgraded or modified separately.
- Security: The system architecture is compliant with DoD security requirements
- Affordability: Development will not repeat what has already been developed by others, using COTS products wherever feasible.
