Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) Development

STI develops Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using the latest technology standards such as XML that provide interactive functionality and flexibility as well as a green alternative to traditional paper manuals and the associated environmental and budget impacts associated with them.

Our web-based IETMs provide expandable table of contents, hotlinks to text and illustrations, document-linking capabilities, simplified navigation, cross-document search capabilities and can incorporate Voice and Video clips.

STI also has the capability of updating IETM systems and publications over the WWW at any desired frequency (quarterly, monthly, daily, or hourly). This ensures technicians have up-to-date information and eliminates the need for change packages due to rapid distribution. In most cases, real time changes can be developed and distributed within hours - making sure the technician has the required information as quickly as possible. Users are notified when changes are made and changes are viewable while browsing the document.

Our team provides full data services and systems management on IETMs. With the amount of data involved in this effort, STI is factoring in the movement of the data, storage, infrastructure to deliver to the Internet “on demand”. Moreover, our approach to systems management includes management of the systems to support the data services (i.e.: web servers, application server, storage arrays, RAID arrays, networking and infrastructure to keep it all operational). Additionally, we support full backup, recovery, fault tolerance and recovery planning, essentially keeping the “lights on” on the data center that is used to provide the infrastructure that delivers online training 24×7, no matter what.

STI works closely with partners such as Cyberverse to support their systems infrastructure needs, including systems management, rapid response teams, backup, recovery, fault tolerance and recovery planning. We have also successfully developed large scale, enterprise systems using virtual computing cloud technology (e.g.: Amazon Web Services) to deliver fully scalable systems without traditional “brick and morter” management concerns.
