Taz Daughtrey

Mr. H. Tazewell Daughtrey has been a member of the Computer Science faculty at James Madison University since 2001. He is Executive Director of the World Congress for Software Quality, a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, and the Founding Editor of the peer-reviewed journal SOFTWARE QUALITY PROFESSIONAL.

Mr Daughtrey’s previous twenty years in industry included serving as Quality Manager and Chief Security Officer of an Internet application service provider, as well as a number of roles in software development, training, and quality improvement in manufacturing and engineering.

He has extensive experience both as a software developer and as a trainer. He served as Supervisor of Government Software Services for B&W Nuclear Service Company, directing the acquisition, installation, conversion, and qualification of analytical software for a major Department of Energy project. He has also directed the performance of a wide variety of software quality activities for internal customers as well as electric utilities, national laboratories and research institutes. He has participated in company-wide R&D to survey programming practices and guidelines on software quality assurance and developed seminars on software quality issues. Mr. Daughtrey has also consulted with outside customers on the development of software policies and procedures and the evaluation and implementation of new tools and techniques.

Mr. Daughtrey’s additional experience includes the development of training courses on software quality, software verification and validation, software standards and software auditing. He has also made presentations to numerous conferences on software quality assurance and related issues.
